Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Special Interest Groups (SIGs), hereinafter, are sub-committees of the Executive for the Australians for the Liberal Democrats (UK). Adib Murshed, the 4th Earl of Plasmaine and from among the Jerusalemite nobility, served as the first Chair of the Aussie Lib Dems and was succeeded, in October 2021, by Jaydon Singh. Under the Chairmanship of Jaydon Singh, Pravin James Deorajan was appointed as the association’s first Public Officer.

In addition to our own SIGs, the Liberal Democrats for Peace in the Middle East (LDfPME) is recognized by the Executive as an Affiliated Special Interest Group (ASIG) of the Liberal Democrats in the UK.

As of the 8th day of February 2021 CE, there are five active SIGs:

  • the Lib Dems (UK) for CANZUK,
  • the Royalist Lib Dems (UK),
  • the Conservative Lib Dems UK,
  • the Socialist Lib Dems (UK),
  • and the Federalist Lib Dems (UK).

All five of the above-mentioned SIGs have their own public group chats on WhatsApp Messenger and/or Telegram Messenger as well as an elected Chair to serve as their primary representative and contact:

The ASEAN-Pacific Lib Dems UK is a group (and de facto SIG) including LDO members, LDO registered supporters and other LDO subscribers/participants. The ASEAN-Pacific Lib Dems UK is headed by the LDO Ambassador-at-Large for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. The first Chair of the ASEAN-Pacific Lib Dems UK is Merlene Toh Emerson, a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) and from among the British-Singaporean Mark Emerson family.
